About this role

Independence Health System is seeking an MRI Technologist to join our team and perform Magnetic Resonance exams that produce detailed images of anatomical parts and systems for diagnostic purposes. This role is critical in supporting radiologists with high-quality imaging to guide patient care decisions.

In this role, you will collect pertinent patient data, verify physician orders, and ensure proper screening protocols are completed before each scan. You will provide clear explanations to patients, administer contrast agents according to established guidelines, and monitor patients for adverse reactions throughout the procedure.

You will work closely with centralized scheduling, nursing units, and the emergency department to accommodate STAT and ASAP orders, ensuring timely procedures. The environment emphasizes safety, with ongoing MRI safety training and daily quality control checks on equipment to maintain optimal performance.

This position offers a $30,000 sign-on bonus and the opportunity to grow within a respected health system. You will participate in department meetings and contribute to a collaborative team focused on excellence in medical imaging.

Requirements

  • Completion of a JRCERT-accredited Radiologic Technology program recognized by ARRT.
  • Strong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, and sound judgment.
  • Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience.
  • Medical terminology knowledge.
  • Basic working knowledge of computers and office equipment.
  • Previous venipuncture experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Collects pertinent data about the patient and the procedure, reconfirming patient identification and verifying the physician's order.
  • Provides accurate explanations and instructions to patients, verifying consent and answering questions at a level the patient can understand.
  • Analyzes assessment information to determine optimal imaging parameters per diagnosis, selecting appropriate coils and positioning devices.
  • Administers contrast agents according to established guidelines, using sterile techniques to prep sites and start IVs when applicable.
  • Obtains optimum images during scans, reformats images as needed, and sends images to PACS for radiologist interpretation.
  • Documents patient care, exams, and history in appropriate records, including HIS/RIS and PACS systems, and completes MRI screening forms.
  • Facilitates correspondence with all departments to ensure timely procedures, working with Centralized Scheduling, nursing units, and ER for STAT or ASAP orders.
  • Maintains equipment and workstation in optimum condition by performing daily QC, ensuring adequate supplies, and reporting malfunctions to service providers.
