About this role
This role oversees day-to-day floor operations within the MRI modality, monitoring quality and coordinating education opportunities during these operations. The Lead MRI Technologist monitors customer satisfaction and employee satisfaction results, looking for trends and identifying opportunities for improvement.
Day-to-day responsibilities include assigning and monitoring the work of MRI technologists to optimize quality and efficiency. The lead also assists the manager with payroll duties as assigned and may lead special projects assigned by leadership.
In this position, you will plan and organize MRI and related services on assigned shift to assure that all examinations are expeditiously processed and meet all standards of quality and safety. You will assume all charge responsibilities in the absence of the upline and take lead responsibility for daily quality control, enforcement of radiology policies, and adherence to all procedure policies.
This role provides an opportunity to support objectives set by imaging specialist and leadership, assist in scheduling vendor trials and applications, and help with credentialing and competencies set forth by Corewell Health and various regulatory agencies. You may also provide input regarding employee performance and participate in the interview process of new applicants.
Requirements
- Required Associate's Degree or equivalent in health care or related field
- 5 years of relevant experience as an MRI Technologist
- CRT-Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (MRI) - ARRT American Registry of Radiologic Technologist Upon Hire required
- Or CRT-American Registry Of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (MRI) - ARMRIT Upon Hire required
- CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association Upon Hire required
- Or CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross Upon Hire required
Responsibilities

- Assigns and monitors the work of MRI technologists to optimize quality and efficiency
- Plans and organizes MRI and related services on assigned shift to assure all examinations are expeditiously processed and meet quality and safety standards
- Assumes all charge responsibilities in the absence of the upline and lead responsibilities for daily quality control and policy enforcement
- Obtains and verifies patients' clinical history, prepares and administers contrast media as prescribed by a licensed practitioner
- Prepares patients for procedures, positions patients and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, and evaluates images for technical quality
- Assists with performing quality studies on new and/or difficult exams to meet established protocol requirements
- Provides the Supervisor/Manager input regarding employee performance and may participate in the interview process of new applicants
