About this role

The Vascular Sonographer performs ultrasound examinations on patients utilizing a variety of technical aspects. Requires full knowledge of vascular principles, ultrasound physics and instrumentation, and ability to obtain diagnostic images. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to interpret findings and provide essential information for patient care.

Consistently determines and presents high quality exams following department protocols and procedures. Operates and maintains ultrasound equipment, troubleshoots technical issues, and examines requisitions for appropriate orders, exam date, and indication. Acquires appropriate imaging suited towards the indication of examination.

Explains procedures to patients and positions them correctly to obtain optimal images. Documents appropriate preliminary results for cardiologist to interpret in EPIC. Demonstrates competency in imaging and transmitting vascular exams to appropriate PACs system and reading physicians.

Meets expectations of quality requirements for the lab set by the medical imaging director. Adheres to safety standards and infection control measures while working in a group setting with other providers. Stays current with advancements in vascular sonography through ongoing education and training to maintain certification.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in Applied Science
  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) Certification - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) - Within 6-months of hire or transfer
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • 1+ years of Sonographer Experience (Preferred)
  • Bachelors degree in Ultrasound (Preferred)
  • Full knowledge of vascular principles, ultrasound physics and instrumentation
  • Ability to obtain diagnostic images
