Perform diagnostic cardiac examinations using various ultrasound modes to locate, evaluate, and record cardiovascular data. As a clinical expert in Cardiac Sonography, conduct high-skill exams like Echocardiograms for Mitral Valve Clip, TAVR, Stress Echocardiograms, 3D volumes, and strain analysis at least 50% of the time. Participate in lab accreditation and quality improvement processes.

Mentor other Cardiac Sonographers as a subject matter expert and role model. Assist in teaching students, residents, fellows, and new employees. Support workflow, scheduling, equipment maintenance, and professional development opportunities.

Requirements

  • ARDMS certification allowing practice within cardiac sonography scope
  • Recognition as clinical expert in Cardiac Sonography
  • Proficiency in high skill level exams including TAVR, Mitral Valve Clip Echocardiograms, stress echoes, 3D volumes, and strain analysis
  • Experience participating in IAC lab accreditation and quality improvement processes
  • Thorough understanding of clinical indications for cardiovascular procedures
  • Ability to detect malfunctions, diseases, and create recordings for analysis per lab protocols
  • Skills in mentoring sonographers and teaching trainees

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic cardiac examinations utilizing equipment in various modes to evaluate anatomical, pathological, and functional cardiovascular data
  • Conduct high skill level ultrasound exams including Echocardiograms for Mitral Valve Clip and TAVR, Stress Echocardiograms, LV/RV 3D volumes, and strain analysis at least 50% of the time
  • Participate in lab accreditation process and quality improvement/assurance process
  • Serve as subject matter expert and mentor for other Cardiac Sonographers, acting as professional and technical role model
  • Assist in teaching students, residents, fellows, and new employees
  • Assist with workflow, scheduling, and rescheduling of exams when necessary
  • Assist with equipment service needs including preventative maintenance and repair
  • Independently perform all cardiovascular diagnostic examinations within ARDMS scope of practice and complete findings per IAC standards
