Requirements

Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Sonography Program
Knowledge of accepted standards of practice for diagnostic ultrasound
Ability to apply infection control policies and sterile technique guidelines
Skill in monitoring supply inventory and maintaining organized imaging areas
Competence in documenting and transmitting images to PACS accurately

Responsibilities

Review patient history and physician orders to determine appropriate ultrasound procedure protocols
Assess patients and provide care throughout procedures according to age-specific and hospital standards
Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations while selecting parameters that produce high-quality images
Position, assist, and transport patients safely to and from imaging equipment
Monitor patient condition during procedures and report changes to the physician promptly
Enter and transmit scan results accurately to PACS with correct accession numbers and documentation
Implement safety standards, perform quality control, and conduct basic equipment troubleshooting
Provide clinical instruction and supervision to students in approved ultrasound programs
