Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Sonography Program
  • Knowledge of accepted standards of practice for diagnostic ultrasound
  • Ability to apply infection control policies and sterile technique guidelines
  • Skill in monitoring supply inventory and maintaining organized imaging areas
  • Competence in documenting and transmitting images to PACS accurately

Responsibilities

  • Review patient history and physician orders to determine appropriate ultrasound procedure protocols
  • Assess patients and provide care throughout procedures according to age-specific and hospital standards
  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations while selecting parameters that produce high-quality images
  • Position, assist, and transport patients safely to and from imaging equipment
  • Monitor patient condition during procedures and report changes to the physician promptly
  • Enter and transmit scan results accurately to PACS with correct accession numbers and documentation
  • Implement safety standards, perform quality control, and conduct basic equipment troubleshooting
  • Provide clinical instruction and supervision to students in approved ultrasound programs
