Requirements
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer or Registered Cardiac Sonographer certification required.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
- Ability to perform all echocardiography procedures under the direction of the Medical Director and Team Leader of Cardiac Testing.
- Knowledge of ECG equipment and ability to maintain supplies.
- Skill in identifying and correcting for artifacts during procedures.
- Ability to review patient records and instruct patients effectively.
Responsibilities
- Performs diagnostic electrocardiograms and all echocardiography procedures in accordance with the doctor's written order.
- Attaches electrode lead lines to proper body areas based on the type of test ordered, preparing skin and surroundings to ensure valid results.
- Obtains and documents ECG readings as directed, identifying and correcting for artifacts.
- Reviews patient's record and instructs patient prior to and during procedures.
- Monitors patient during procedures and reports any abnormal findings to the attending physician.
- Notes and forwards results to attending physician for analysis and interpretation.
- Maintains ECG equipment and supplies, and performs clerical duties specific to ICAEL quality assurance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
