About this role

Provides diagnostic imaging services according to accepted standards and protocols while assuring patient safety during procedures. Performs all diagnostic ultrasound procedures following department policies. Adjusts patient care based on age-specific needs and uses equipment properly to minimize hazards.

Selects appropriate equipment and correct transducer for each ultrasound exam according to the organ examined. Explains procedures to patients and responds to questions appropriately. Transports patients to and from the department and maintains a clean, orderly environment.

Assists with administrative responsibilities including scheduling appointments, answering phones, and quality control procedures. Follows protocols for releasing images and uses computer to access reports. Participates in annual surveys, inspections, and aids students as needed.

Demonstrates competency in all ultrasound procedures and special testing. Maintains knowledge of PACS system, AS reporting, and Trophon Disinfection System. Assists with ultrasound accreditation process and invasive procedure scheduling.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography
  • Registered with American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Licensed by the Board of Medical Imaging/Radiation Therapy in the State of New Hampshire

Responsibilities

  • Performs all diagnostic procedures following policies and procedures established by the department
  • Adjusts patient care based on age-specific needs
  • Selects appropriate equipment and correct transducer for each ultrasound exam
  • Uses all equipment properly to minimize hazards of electric shock
  • Explains procedures and responds to questions appropriately
  • Maintains working knowledge of the PACS System and CD Burning
  • Transports patients to and from the department
  • Assists with administrative responsibilities including scheduling and quality controls
